Ultrasonic open channel flowmeter is a new type of flow instrument used for measuring the discharge of sewage from enterprise self flowing pipes (channels), abbreviated as "sewage flowmeter". It is widely used for measuring sewage discharge in the petroleum, chemical, textile, and pharmaceutical industries. It is one of the necessary instruments for urban pollution prevention and environmental protection departments to monitor sewage discharge, and is also a standing instrument for measuring agricultural irrigation water discharge in water conservancy departments.
This flowmeter adopts technologies such as hydraulic flow measurement, ultrasonic positioning, microcomputer processing, and digital display, and can be installed and automatically measured in harsh environments. It has high reliability and strong resistance to dryness. Easy installation and maintenance, with simple readings.

Principle:
It is based on the specific shape of the Bacher measuring groove/weir plate measuring groove, ensuring a certain liquid level height and obtaining a certain flow rate. The Bacher groove/weir plate measuring groove is selected as the specific flow channel, with high measurement accuracy and easy installation. The sensor measures the liquid level height, and the instantaneous flow rate and cumulative flow rate values are processed by the microcontroller. The flow rate can be expressed as follows:

Q: Instantaneous flow rate (t/h) K: flow constant
H: Liquid level height n: n power value
The instantaneous traffic is accumulated and processed to obtain the cumulative traffic.
Application area:
Due to the non pressure flow characteristics of open channel flow meters, they are widely used in sewage discharge outlets and are suitable for measuring and controlling sewage in various enterprises such as chemical, metallurgical, environmental protection, and pharmaceutical industries.

The centerline of the Bacher trough should coincide with the centerline of the channel to prevent water flow from deviating into the Bacher trough.
After the Bacher trough is filled with water, the flow state of the water should be free flowing. The submergence degree of the Bacher trough should be less than the specified critical submergence degree.
The upstream of the Bacher trough should have a straight section greater than 5 times the width of the channel to allow water flow to enter the Bacher trough smoothly. There is no lateral deviation or the impact force formed by the slope of the channel.
The Bacher groove should be securely installed on the channel. The connection with the side walls and bottom of the channel should be tight and not leak water. Make all the water flow through the measuring part of the Bacher trough. The measuring part of the Bacher trough is the throat section inside the trough
B, rectangular weir
1. Suitable for narrow space manhole cement pipelines
2. It does not damage the probe even when there is a large amount of rainwater and sewage

C, triangular weir
Suitable for narrow locations such as dry wells and sewers, where it is inconvenient for customers to carry out construction on site

Application places of ultrasonic open channel flowmeter: urban water supply, water diversion channels, thermal power plant water diversion and drainage channels, sewage treatment inflow and discharge channels, industrial and mining enterprise water discharge, water conservancy engineering and agricultural irrigation channels
It is a flow meter for measuring free surface natural flow in non full tubular open channels. During measurement, a water tank weir is installed on the channel, and the flow rate in the channel is converted into liquid level height. The liquid level signal obtained from the measurement is used to calculate the flow value back into the water tank weir.

There is generally no definite correspondence between channel liquid level and flow rate, as the same water depth, flow rate, cross-sectional area, slope, and roughness are related (by fluid mechanics).

By placing the fixed size weir on different channels, a certain mathematical relationship is formed between the flow rate and liquid level.
Traditionally, this application mainly uses ultrasonic level gauges and immersion level gauges to measure liquid levels. In recent years, ultrasonic level gauges have basically established their advantageous position in this field.
This method of using "water level flow rate" is based on the hydraulic relationship formula. So it's also called 'hydraulic method'!
