Electromagnetic flowmeter is composed of two parts: sensor and converter. It works based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction and is used to measure conductive liquids or two-phase media. Its conductivity is generally required to be greater than 5 μ S/cm (the original conductivity of tap water is about 100-500 μ S/cm). It can be used to measure various acid, alkali, salt solutions, pulp, slurry and other media, but the media cannot contain a lot of ferromagnetic substances and a large number of bubbles.
Electromagnetic flowmeter is a major flow meter widely used in industrial sectors such as petroleum, chemical, metallurgical, textile, papermaking, environmental protection, food, as well as municipal management and water conservancy construction for flow measurement.
The measurement system of the electromagnetic flowmeter sensor is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. A pair of detection electrodes are installed on the pipe wall perpendicular to the axis of the measuring tube and the magnetic field lines. When the conductive liquid moves along the axis of the measuring tube, it cuts the magnetic field lines and generates an induced potential. This induced potential is detected by two electrodes on the measuring tube, with a value of:

Measure the average flow velocity within the cross-section of the V measuring tube;
D Measure the inner diameter of the tube;
When measuring flow rate, the fluid flows through a magnetic field perpendicular to the flow direction, and the flow of conductive liquid induces an electric potential proportional to the average flow velocity. Therefore, it is required that the measured flowing liquid has a conductivity higher than the minimum limit. The induced voltage signal is detected through two electrodes. And it is transmitted to the converter through cables, and after signal processing and related operations, the accumulated flow rate and instantaneous flow rate are displayed on the converter's display screen.
Instrument features
1. There are no obstructions or moving parts inside the measuring tube, so it will not cause additional energy loss or blockage, resulting in significant energy-saving effects. It is particularly suitable for measuring liquid-solid two-phase flows such as sewage, mud, slurry, coal water slurry, pulp, etc.
2. Only the lining and electrode are in contact with the measured medium. As long as the lining and electrode materials are selected reasonably, good corrosion resistance and wear resistance can be achieved. Therefore, various chemical solutions such as strong acids and bases can be measured.
3. Low installation requirements. The front straight pipe section is only 5D, while the rear straight pipe section is 2D (D is the inner diameter of the selected instrument).
4. The measurement accuracy is not affected by changes in fluid density, viscosity, temperature, pressure, and conductivity, and can measure flow in both forward and reverse directions, which provides a good means for accurately measuring flow.
5. The power consumption of the instrument is low, less than 5VA.
6. The converter has good interchangeability and can achieve measurement accuracy without the need for re calibration of the real current. Due to its various advantages, electromagnetic flow meters are becoming increasingly widely used in various industries and have become the preferred instrument for liquid flow measurement.
